Once you’ve hired an experienced and reliable cleaning service to help you clean your home, you’ll wonder why you waited so long! But before you go ahead and make your life a whole lot easier by hiring a cleaning company, here are 7 questions to ask yourself:
- Were they referred by family or friends?
If not, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t legitimate or won’t carry out their work well, but it can be helpful to find a company that you know have performed well for someone you know and trust.
- Did they have good online reviews?
If they don’t have any online reviews, this could mean that they’re a new company, and it doesn’t automatically rule them out. However, negative reviews speak for themselves, and if there have been several less than positive reviews, you might want to reconsider your options.
- Are they insured and bonded?
If you’re employing someone, ensuring that they’re bonded and insured is essential for your protection, and theirs. Insurance protects your business if someone is injured while working for you, and workers compensation helps employees who are injured on the job.
- Do they have a satisfaction guaranteed policy?
If the company you’re planning to hire has a satisfaction guaranteed policy, make sure you ask them about breakages and damage guarantees.
- Are they employees or subcontractors?
You need to know whether the cleaners who will be working for you are employees or contract workers, as the latter don’t enjoy nearly as many rights and protections against unfair treatment from their employers as employees do, and so it’s important to make sure that they will be reliable.
- What cleaning supplies will they use?
Some cleaning companies will bring their own cleaning supplies, while others may expect you to purchase them. If you prefer them to use only natural, green cleaning products, you may need to specify this if they’re not already using them.
- Do they have terms and conditions in place?
If you need to change or cancel a cleaning service, this isn’t always easy, so it’s important to find out what their policy is for cancelling and rescheduling cleaners in advance.
It’s always a relief to find an experienced cleaning company that you can rely on, but you do need to carry out a bit of research before doing so – as you should with any investment, really.
